I will be assisting with a 2 day event at the Battleship North Carolina on Friday June 21 & Saturday June 22. My 1943 US Army Jeep will be on display as visitors board the ship and I will be greeting visitors along with Levy Pate, Ray Sheppard & Randolph Sawyer.
Working on WWII US Army BD-71 switchboard. I am attempting to connect multiple “old-school” telephone land lines/field phone to the switchboard. The working display will be demonstrated at the upcoming STEAM event at Bladen Community College on Wednesday March 27.
The switchboard is vintage WWII and I have displayed it at Fort Fisher in an non-working state for a couple of years. My biggest issue is getting the WWII field phones operating!
I will be speaking on WWII Camp Davis and discussing my new publication, “Camp Davis: a 21st Century History & Guidebook” at Bladen Community College on Tuesday March 19 at 6:00 PM. At the conclusion of my short talk and question-answer segment, I will sign your book! Books will be available for purchase at the event. Special thanks to the BCC Library staff for hosting this event!
By coincidence, my new compendium on Camp Davis, is to be released today, Friday Dec. 7, the 77th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor! The event that propelled the U.S. into the Second World War.
